At the age of 20, I was the last apprentice shipwright to become a journeyman at the Swan Hunter Shipyard on the River Tees before it closed. this songs sums up how I felt about its closure and my trade.

This song is based on a historical event which took place in the early 20th century in Robin Hoods Bay UK. At this time lifeboat crews were allowed to help stricken ships for salvage money paid by the owners to the lifeboat crew - one way of supplementing their meagre earnings as fishermen.
